What God Expects of Church Leaders

The past two weeks I had the privilege of filling in for Pastor Wayne as he traveled to India for a Pastor's conference. It is always an awesome privilege to stand before God and His people, open His Word and preach it. This past Sunday a man I know preaching at a church far away from Central Kentucky said this about what God expects of those who are in church leadership:

"God expects church leaders to bring an unchanging truth about an unchanging God to a changing culture in ways that continue to be faithful to His message and bring Him glory and praise while advancing His kingdom." - David Hegg

This was a simple and powerful reminder to me that when I am given the opportunity to preach God expects me to speak His truth boldly, to trust Him unflinchingly and to take comfort in the fact that He will advance His kingdom however He chooses. As the apostle Paul told the Corinthians, "I planted, Apollos waters, but God caused the growth (I Corinthians 3:6)."
